I documented, Inwood, Manhattan, zip code 10034, in the cold winter of 2009. Inwood is not the Bronx as some would ask. It is a community at the top of Manhattan, end of the A Train. It is a community of families, mostly Dominican. It also is the home of one of the Columbia University locations. There is a farmers market every Saturday year round. You will find this is a home to many dog lovers. Inwood has apts and coops with more space than usual, mostly pre-war buildings, some more run down than others. It is home to the only forest in Manhattan, Inwood Forest, where you can catch many bird lovers and even a woodpecker that will rest on your hand and eat bird seed. It is also an easy walk to the Cloisters, which is a highly recommended attraction in Northern Manhattan.
